Dragons do not have standard human forms. Most are unable to shapeshift, and those who do are elder dragons who have acquired the skill somehow. These forms must be obtained through participation in the group-- New applicants and cadets will never have the chance to catch a shapeshifting dragon as their first partner.
Dragons do not speak human languages. Some may have learned the ability to communicate with their bonded riders through telepathy, but all dragons lack the vocal chords to do much more beyond growling, hissing, and such other 'beast-like' sounds. There will never be an instance in Vios Terra where a dragon can speak so that other riders can hear and understand it.
Rather, it is advisable to RP your dragons like a cat or a dog. Something that's intelligent, but not fully capable of complete verbal understanding.
Standard dragons are all modified with a jewel crest on their chests once they reach adolescence. Contained inside is a small orb, the artificially distilled essence of their soul and being. Riders do not want this removed. We don't suggest you test it.
Be sure to groom your dragons twice daily, once before leaving on a flight and once upon returning. This must be done at the grooming stables! .... Unless claws and armor needs to be filed and sharpened. In that case, head down to the torture chambers. [It's dual purpose!]
It is recommended for riders to gather celestberries as often as they can. These are star-shaped fruits about the size of a coconut with a crunchy outer shell and soft, chewy starseeds inside. Aside from being extremely nutritional, these fruits will recharge your dragon's elemental magic whenever it begins to wane and also gives a chance of boosting stats. Dragons who like sweet [Or sour, depending on the colour of the berry] things generally enjoy these fruits as a treat.
To reiterate, dragons are not allowed to stay with their riders overnight with the exemption of Royal Knights and above. However, baby dragons and eggs may stay with their cadets as those require constant care.
Despite modifications, each dragon will have their own unique personality and preferences. Be sure to try and figure out what those are and keep your steed happy!
